‘Tis the season and all the rest of it, but amid all the celebrations it’s important to make time for self-care. This is not just about looking good, (although our wholesale cosmetic clay powders will certainly leave your skin soft and radiant), it’s also about taking a holistic approach to your healthcare and wellbeing, so you are mentally and physically refreshed.
Here’s a guide to the ultimate home pampering session to help you unwind in between the whirlwind of shopping, decorating and partying.
Make a date
You may not have time to fit in a spa day, but you can create a relaxing space at home. Carve out some time when you will be free from interruptions for a couple of hours, and can switch off your notifications. If you are stretched thin, make a date on your calendar and regard it as non-negotiable: your wellbeing matters and is not just self-indulgence.
Set the scene
Create a pleasant space with some scented candles or essential oils, calming ambient music, and fluffy towels. Gather the skin and haircare products you will need. Look for 100 per cent natural ingredients that have no harsh chemical additives that could irritate your skin: alcohol, parabens, sulphates and synthetic perfumes are red flags.
Our versatile green clays contain no preservatives, colourings, or artificial fragrances, and can be used for multiple purposes, including face masks, hair conditioning, full-body treatments, and even teeth cleaning and making poultices to soothe cuts and burns. Therefore they are an ideal and cost-effective spa treatment product.
Start with a face mask
To begin, mix a heaped teaspoon of green clay with spring water or rose water, using a wooden spoon to preserve the negative ionic charge. When a smooth paste has formed, apply it generously to the face and neck and leave for 15 to 20 minutes, until it begins to dry out but not completely. Rinse with warm water and a clean soft cotton cloth.
Your skin will be deeply cleansed by the green clay, which unclogs pores and draws out impurities. To finish, apply a good quality facial serum or an oil such as argan or jojoba.
Go for the full body treatment
While your face mask is doing its thing, prepare a full body treatment with a larger batch of clay paste. Apply it over your limbs and torso and wrap yourself in a cosy bath robe or disposable plastic gown, and chill out for 20 minutes. Treat yourself to a glass of something cold and sparkling: after all, it is the festive season!
When the time is up, rinse off the paste in the shower and pat yourself dry. Finish off by slathering on a body lotion or hydrating oil.
Give your hair some TLC
This time of year can be tough on our hair, with heated environments and hot styling tools to create those party looks. Use the clay paste to mix enough to apply to your hair from roots to ends, massaging into your scalp. Leave for ten to 20 minutes and rinse off, for beautifully soft and shiny hair.
